Lee D. Markle Sr.

February 5, 1946 — July 3, 2022

(W. Barre)  Lee D. Markle, Sr. age 76 passed away at his home on July 3, 2022.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  Lee was born February 5, 1946 in Batavia, a son of the late Lewis and Margaret (Say) Markle and lived in this area all of his life.

Lee was a proud American and Veteran. He served in the US Army 2nd Armored Division at Ft. Hood TX.  He was a founding member of the Barre Sportsman club, a member of the Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church since 1978 and the Horse Club of the Black North Riders.  He and his wife spent many years riding and driving their horses, meeting many friends along the way.  Lee was also an active parent in the 4-H Horse Club.  He retired from GM after 34 years of employment.  He was an avid hunter and loved to salmon fish at the Point.  But most of all, Lee was a devoted husband to his wife Kathleen a loving father and grandfather who stood up for what was right and always did the right thing.

In addition to his wife Kathleen, he was predeceased by his infant sister Mary Margaret; sisters Gertrude Davis, Rita Sue Woodworth; brothers Richard Markle, Ray Dudley Markle.

He is survived by his special friend Terry Haines; 4 sons, Lee (Yahua) Markle, Jr., Ronald (Angie Coon) Markle, Matthew (Stacey) Markle, Daniel (Kimberly) Markle; grandchildren Sophie, Brittanie, Alexandra, Lyvia, Delanie; sisters Eleanor Kerstetter, Helen (Bill) Shelter; brother Reed (Joy) Markle as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Ave. Albion Friday July 8th 6:00pm-9:00pm.  His Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 10:00am at the West Barre United Methodist Church, 5377 Eagle Harbor Rd. Albion.  Burial with Military Honors to follow at W. Barre Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Supportive Care of Orleans, 14080 State Rte. 31, Albion NY.
