Albert John Blank, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2026. Al was born on November 27, 1934, the youngest of seven children born to Albert J. Blank, Sr. and Lillian (Pfrommer) Blank.
Al lived in the Town of Clarendon most of his life and graduated from Holley Central School. In 1954, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was a strong candidate for pilot training. However, Al favored family life over a career in the sky and took leave from his station in Amarillo, Texas to marry the love of his life, Patricia Ann Ryan, on October 22, 1955. After his discharge from the Air Force, they returned to Clarendon and went on to raise two daughters.
Al worked many years for Star Market as a meat cutter and manager of the meat department in Batavia and Albion. When the company went out of business, he went to work for Brockport School District in the maintenance department. Al had a life-long love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter and sport shooter, leading to many years as an active member of the Holley Rod and Gun Club. He was a strong family man, spending much time with his daughters and maintaining his home. For many years he nurtured a large vegetable garden and shared fruits and vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors. Al was talented at woodworking and constructed beautiful pieces of furniture from his own walnut tree. He also had a fondness for animals and indulged his daughters with many pets over the years. He once taught a horse to shake hands and had a particular fondness for a stray cat that he named Tommy. That cat was more spoiled than his daughters ever imagined could happen. Al was never one to shy away from work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, and his siblings: Rosemarie Codori, Robert Blank, Dorothy Gosnell, Ruth Wolf, William Blank, and Donald Blank. He is survived by his daughters Colleen (Al) Roco and Pauline Pratt, and his grandsons Aaron Koss (Melissa Selover) and Joel Koss.
Arrangements for Albert Blank are under the care of Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, New York. In of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Orleans County Joint Veterans Council Van Service 13996 Route 31 Albion, NY 14411 or the Sons of the American Legion Jewell Buckman Post 529 5 Wright St. Holley, NY 14470.
