Alice B. Remus

Gasport: Alice B. Remus, age 100, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. She was born March 19, 1926 in Hartland to the late Percy and Mildred (Davis) Brayley.

Alice was proud to work until the young age of 67 before she retired from Harris while in Melbourne, Florida. She spent the winters there for many years and would come back to New York to be close to family during the warmer months. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises to various places in the world, camping and doing crafts. Most of all, Alice loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Helmuth in 2009, daughter Barbara Austin Donaldson, son-in-law, Roy Schumacher, siblings LaVerne, Leighton, Roger, Carol, Kenneth, and brother-in-law, Ted Boyatzies.

Alice is survived by her children, Carolyn Schumacher, Robert (Maurean) Austin, Richard (Barbara) Remus, David (Cindy) Remus, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sister Linda Boyatzies, sister-in-law Rita Brayley, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held at Hartland Central Cemetery.

Alice’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY.
