December 31, 1969 — July 22, 2021

Obituary of Betty J. Nellist Betty Jean Nellist, of Brockport NY, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. Betty was born to the late Henry and Freda (Luke) Rachow on June 4, 1932 in Rochester NY. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School, she completed secretarial training and worked at Kodak. In 1955, Betty married Robert Nellist and they settled in the village of Barker, where they raised two children. In addition to being an outstanding homemaker, she worked part-time at Faith United Methodist Church and the post office. A move to Brockport in 1986 provided Bob and Betty with the opportunity to be near family in their retirement years. Betty was very creative and enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she planned year-round for the big day. She always made it special for the entire family with delicious food and lots of presents under the tree. She was devoted to her family, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Keith) Woodbridge, son Randy (Carla) Nellist, grandchildren Andrew (Kristy) Woodbridge, Joshua (Anat) Nellist, Kimberly (Derek) Ortiz, Emily (Caleb) Mabry, Adam Nellist, 6 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Richard (late Shirley) Nellist, a niece and nephew. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aurora House Comfort Care Home of Spencerport. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Betty's arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Holley, NY.
