Brenda C. Brauer

Brenda C. Brauer was born August 29, 1940 in Lockport, NY to George Frank Hammond and Winifred (Dale) Hammond. She graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1958. Brenda worked at the Royalton Hartland Central School District as a teacher aid with the elementary children, retiring in 1995. Brenda received an appreciation award for the dedicated service to children. Brenda had a strong interest in painting, reading, poetry, volunteering, singing and traveling. She was a Hospice Volunteer and given an excellence award for twenty years of service. A leadership award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for outstanding volunteer of the self-help group. A member of First English Lutheran Church serving as junior and senior choir supporter and many committees over 70 years. She spent the last four years at Lockport Rehab & Health Care Center because they had the equipment and essential help of aides and nurses she needed. Making and meeting many new friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and stepmother Jean Allen Hammond and brothers Paul F. and David G. Hammond.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 67 years Arthur W. Brauer and son Kevin (Cathy) Brauer, and daughter Susan (Darrel) Oevermann; a daughter like from Turkey Nursen Guven who taught English as a second language and provided loving care over 20 years; three grandchildren Meaghan (Matthew) Kavanagh, Ryan Brauer, Caitlin (Ryan) Ziegler; two great-grandchildren Braeden and Luke Kavanagh; brother George Frank Hammond Jr. of Medina; sister-in-law Barbara Hammond of Fl, brother-in-law Richard Brauer and sister-in-law Karen (Ray) Cody, several nieces and nephews.

Brenda’s family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY 14067 on Monday October 19, from 4:00-6:00pm. Brenda’s funeral service will be held at the First English Lutheran Church 185 Locust St. Lockport, NY. 14094, on Tuesday October 20, at 10:00am. Entombment will be private in Acacia Park Cemetery.
