Hartland: Carl S. “Sam” Acome, age 80, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on May 16, 2023. He was born December 24, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Carl and Mary “Madeline” (Clements) Acome.
Sam served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962-1982. During that time, he served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, attended Officer Training School and retired in 1982 with the rank of Major. He married his wife, Jackie in January 1963 and together they would raise three daughters all over the country and world during his military career. Sam loved to farm and mainly raised beef cattle but was well known and respected in the farm community. He was always willing to help anyone he could amongst the community and many farmers learned a lot from Sam. Being a “Papa” was his greatest joy and his grandchildren and great grandchildren loved creating countless memories with their grandfather over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Kimberly Acome, sister, Mary (Dick) Henneman, brothers, Thomas and David Acome.
Sam is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline “Jackie”, daughters, Katherine (Mike) Gehl, Karen Acome, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, siblings, Judy (John) Loomis, Jim (Patricia) Acome, sister-in-law, Esther (Daniel) Ng, brothers-in-law, Patrick (Becky) Hagan, Timothy (Patty) Hagan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services for Sam will be held privately.

Sam’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, Middleport, NY.
