Clayton H. "Uncle Chubby" Downs

(Albion) Clayton “Uncle Chubby” Downs age 75 passed away surrounded by his loving family, November 4, 2021 at Absolut Care of Aurora Park. He was born September 5, 1946 in Batavia, a son of the late Floyd and Lottie (Johnson) Downs and had lived in this area all of his life.

Clayton was a devoted race car driver, racing at numerous tracks around this region. He worked for many years at Torres Farms and Vigneri and Sons Farm in Elba. He loved holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, but most of all, Clayton loved to be with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Violet Ann Davis; brothers Floyd, Robert, Elwood, Irving and Clarence; sister Charlotte. Clayton is survived by his children Audrey Davis, Paula (Danny Coston) Stanton, Crystal (Christopher) Capwell, T.J. (Race Car) Downs; grandchildren Clayton and Jason Stanton, Matthew and Kristin Barry, Ayden Coston; siblings Shirley Pahuta, Arlene Frasier, Kenneth Downs, Lois Golisano, Bonnie Kingdollar as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no prior calling hours. His Celebration of Life will be held Friday November 12th from 5pm-8pm at the Elba Rec. Hall, Route 98, Elba NY. Arrangements were entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Albion.
