Curtis Kevin Churchill

Curtis Kevin Churchill of Marietta, GA, formerly of Lockport, NY passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Born on October 17, 1957, in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Shirley (Smith) Churchill.

Curt graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1975 then continued his education at Penn State University graduating in 1979 with a degree in Meteorology. He moved to Florida to conduct an environmental study. Once in Florida he continued his education at the University of Florida, getting his Masters in Environmental Engineering in 1982. He became a professional engineer 5 years later.

Curt worked for Georgia Department of Natural Resources as an environmental engineer for 30 years, retiring at the age 56. While working full time he attended Georgia State University receiving his Juris Doctor in 1989. He was admitted to the Georgia bar in June of 1990.

Curt had a lifelong interest in learning. He studied both German and French. Playing trivia weekly for several years he was the team ringer. He enjoyed video games and was an avid board gamer attending conventions yearly. He enjoyed movies, puzzles, astronomy and international travel. He was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills and loved to watch the Penn State Nittany Lions play football. He loved birds, trees and all of nature.

Curt did everything with honesty and integrity. He was well liked by everyone, due to his kindness and genuine interest in others. He had the ability to talk on diverse subjects due to his desire to understand and learn, Curt had a fantastic wit that endeared him to others.

His memory lives on with his surviving siblings, David (Carolyn) Churchill of Greensboro, NC, Barbara Churchill Nonno of Bath, OH and Anne Churchill of Alpharetta, GA; Nephew, David, Jr. and nieces, Victoria and Alexandra Churchill and Natalie Nonno.

Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery. A Celebration of Life to be held at a future date in Atlanta.
