David G. Brundish born December 30th, 1933 passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Hildebrandt hospice care center on November 7, 2026
Known to his family as "Gramps" and "Tall Grampa," David G. Brundish lived a long life filled with hard work, service, independence, generosity, and a personality that was unmistakably his own.
David was one of ten children, growing up alongside his nine siblings. He was the son of James and Irene (Buck) Brundish, and was preceded in death by his parents, all nine of his siblings, his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty Ann) (D’Amico) Brundish, sister in law Charlotte (D’Amico) Larsen, brother in laws Donald Larsen and Randall Potter as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
David proudly served in the United States Army. He was a proud member of Union Local 832 and dedicated his career to construction, working as an operator and held his crane operator's license. He also worked for the Village of Albion and the New York State Erie Canal. Beyond his career, David gave back to his community as a volunteer fire police always taking pride in serving the village and the people around him and he enjoyed donating to various organizations.
Above all, Gramps was one of the kindest and most generous souls. He had a heart for his family and did so much for the people he loved. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was someone his family could count on. He could fix anything! He enjoyed taking rides and going on adventures, making memories along the way. Some of his favorite outings included trips to the Canadian National Exhibition, visits to Dansville to the maple syrup factory, and simply getting out and enjoying the day. He enjoyed tending to his garden and lawn something that brought him happiness and gave him another way to share what he loved with those around him. He also loved the nascar races, fishing and the Buffalo Bills.
David was a man who lived life on his own terms. He was fiercely independent, strong-willed, and stubborn in the best (and sometimes most challenging) way. If you knew Gramps, you knew it was his way or no way! He enjoyed listening to his police scanner and always liked keeping up with what was happening around him. He was truly one of a kind.
To his family, he was Gramps, and that is how he will always be remembered. His stories, his generous heart, his strong personality, his independence, and all the little things that made him who he was will live on through the generations of family he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughters, Renee Backus(Steve DeFelice) and Natalie Starkweather; his grandchildren, Charlene Kirstein (Nicholas Theodorakos), Michael Narburgh II (Carissa Augello), Terry Jr. (Chelsea) Nottingham, David Slocum, Dylan Dent, Mitchell Starkweather (Ashley Zimmer); and his great-grandchildren, James (LJ) Kirstein III, Bentley, Isabella and Aiden Narburgh, Zayne Slocum, Milania, Vinny and Gianna Dent, Ellorie, Jayden and Jackson Nottingham. He is also survived by his sister in law Delores (D’Amico) Martusciello and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
David's life was one of hard work, service, family, kindness, generosity, and doing things his own way. Though he will be deeply missed, his stories, his stubborn spirit, his adventures, and the countless memories he created with those he loved will live on forever in the hearts of his family.
He wasn't just Gramps. He was our Gramps.
