Delores Harper

Medina: Delores ("Lois") Harper was born on June 4, 1937 to the late Furman Thompson and Martha Phillips in Greenville, South Carolina and departed this life November 8, 2023.

She would meet and marry Thomas Harper, Sr. on February 26, 1961 and raised 7 children in Kent, New York.

Delores was a very faithful and praying warrior in her Christian walk. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church for many years and served as Treasurer, Choir member and many various roles there. She later became a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she was elevated to Mother of the church until she took ill and was no longer able to attend faithfully.

Delores was a dedicated worker and spent many years supporting her family working with Lipton, Hunts, General Electric & officially retired from BMP.

Delores loved God, reading the Bible, shopping, traveling, bingo and spending time with her family.

Delores is predeceased in death by her parents, Furman Thompson and Martha Phillips, her husband, Thomas Harper, Sr. of Kent, NY, sisters, Fannie Mae Thompson, Elizabeth Thomas, son, Michael Lee Harper, daughter-in-law, Patricia Harper, grandsons, Thomas Harper, III and Christopher Miles Montgomery.

Delores leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Thomas Harper, Jr. and Jimmie Lee (Robin) Harper both of Albion, NY; daughters, Helen Thompson, Susie (Charles) Thornton, both of Rochester, NY, Darlene Harper, Charlene Harper, both of Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Trudy Harper, Annie Harper, Ruby Nell Harper, Dorothy Jean Taggart and Mary Shipman, all of Rochester, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a very special friend, Stephanie (Renee) Miller.

The family of Delores Harper will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 W. Avenue, Albion on Wednesday, November 15, from 11:00am-12:00pm, followed by her funeral service at the funeral home at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
