Dorothy M. Spann entered rest on July 22, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1941, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Bertie Mae Richardson. Dorothy worked at Duffy Motts, Lipton, and Comstock of Brockport for 23 years where she later retired.
Dorothy loved cooking, which was her pastime, and she was one of the best cooks around town. She also loved fishing, gardening and feeding her community as well as spending quality time with her family. Dorothy was also very active in her church at Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Kendall, NY, Rev. T.C. Smith.
Dorothy was predeceased in death by her children Edna Mae Richardson, Charles Artis, Jr. and Loretta Spann McKnight. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish all the happy and beautiful memories: One daughter: Irene Artis, Four sons: Joseph Spann Jr, Ricky Spann, Melvin Artis and Anthony Artis.
Grandchildren: Jonathan Davis, Marvin Russ, Sabrina Campbell, Cassandra Russ, Kalandra Richardson, Sharkisha Mcknight-Baxter, Tonya Mcknight, Charles Jr., Mcknight, Shere Spann Nauden, Tina Spann Rogers, Tyrone Spann, Anthony Artis Jr, Justin Artis, Victoria Artis and Cortland Artis and a host of nieces and nephews and many family members.
Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Judgment Free Church, located at 3286 Crandall Road, Albion, NY 14411 on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Dorothy’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home of Albion.
