Edith Mary Ames

Edith M. Ames, age 90, died July 25, 2026 in Absolut Care of Gasport. She was born June 5, 1936 in Lockport to Ronald and Eleanor (Olschke) Hillman and was a life-long resident of this area.

Edith was a long-time member of the Hartland Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and was an avid bird lover. She loved all animals, especially cats and dogs and was also a very generous person to many charitable organizations. For Edith however, her family always came first in her life. Mrs. Ames was predeceased by her husband Archie, a son: Leslie, a daughter: Faith, a granddaughter: Erin, her brothers: Franklin and Ronald Hillman, and her sisters: Dorothy Winters and Ruth Fearby.

She is survived by her children: Cynthia (Mike) Chellino of Barker, Archie (Barbara Sidhu) Ames of Medina, Douglas (Kristine) Ames of Medina, Christopher (Rosemary) Ames of Middleport, Leigh "Bill" (Kelly) Ames of Middleport, Russell (Kelli) Ames of Middleport, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, a dear friend: Cindy Ames, and her beloved dog: "Matilda".

The family will receive friends at the Community Fellowship Church, 3144 Johnson Creek Road, Middleport, NY, 14105 on WEDNESDAY from 11am-1pm where her Funeral Service will be held at 1pm immediately following visitation. Interment will follow in Hartland Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to an organization or charity of your choice. Edith's arrangements have been entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home of Middleport.
