Edward Harold Brandt

September 25, 1942 — January 10, 2026

Lockport

Edward Harold Brandt of Lockport, NY, devoted husband and father, was called home to the Lord on January 10, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Brandt was born on September 25, 1942 in Lockport, NY, as the first of two children (David) to Catherine Brandt (Secord) and Harold Brandt. He grew up on Charlotteville Road in Newfane and graduated from Newfane Central School in 1960. He was then admitted to Rochester Business Institute, from which he graduated with an Associates of Executive Business Administration and Accountancy in 1962.

After his graduation from R.B.I., Mr. Brandt embarked on a long professional career with Harrison Radiator in Lockport, interrupted only by a voluntary four-year active duty tour and two-year Reserve commitment with the United States Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged in March 1970. During this tour, Mr. Brandt married Mary Ellen Willis of Center Moriches, NY, with whom he had four children: Edward Scott Brandt (currently of Frankfort, NY), Mary Brandt (currently of Mohawk, NY), Cynthia Brandt (currently of Mohawk, NY), and Sharon Wert (David; currently of Manning, SC). Later, Mr. Brandt married Sharon Hoste (Ewald) and helped raise her three children from a previous marriage: Allen Hoste (currently of Lockport, NY), Greg Hoste (Tammy; currently of Lockport, NY), and Cheryl May (currently of Sterling Heights, MI).

Mr. Brandt retired from Harrison Radiator in 1998 and became more involved in local charities and church functions, eventually serving prominently with Habitat for Humanity Lockport and as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He remained a generous contributor to Niagara Hospice and numerous other charities and was a favorite patron of many local businesses, whose employees appreciated his generosity and good humor. Aside from these activities and engagements, Mr. Brandt enjoyed taking long walks and drives and dining out with his family, and was an avid fan of auto racing, car auctions, golf, and Lawrence Welk.

Mr. Brandt was predeceased by second wife Sharon in 2010 and younger brother David in 2024. He is survived by the aforementioned first wife and children/stepchildren, sister-in-law Anne Brandt (David) of Franklin, PA, nephew Andrew Brandt (Danielle) of Dayton, OH, niece Susan Martin (Ronald) of Chantilly, VA, and numerous in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The family will receive friends at Bates, Wallace, and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport NY on Wednesday January 14th 10:00am-12:00pm where his Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery.
