Elizabeth P. Nesbitt

Barre: Elizabeth P. “Beth” Nesbitt, age 105, passed away January 13, 2026, following a full and fruitful life. She was born August 7, 1920 in Albion to J. Howard and Libby Leola (Budd) Pratt and was a life-long resident of this area.

Beth was a faithful member of the Barre Center Presbyterian Church since 1947 where she as very active serving on many committees including the True Blue Mission Guild. She worked over 40 years as a Family home Advocate for Community Action Head Start Program, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a 4-H Leader, and EMT for over 30 years at Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance and had the distinctions of being and Orleans County Apple Blossom Queen and a member of the Cornell Cattle Judging Team. Mrs. Nesbitt worked at a munition factory in Buffalo and wrote to her future husband Bob every week while he was serving in the US Navy during WW II.

Mrs. Nesbitt was predeceased by her husband Robert, a daughter Kathleen and siblings: Marjorie Rustay, John Pratt and Roger Pratt.

She is survived by her children: Anne (Bill) Pileggi of Albion, Linda Jo (Joe) Canale of Kent, Nancy (Larry) Eastlack of Richmond, VA, Paul (Marybeth) Nesbitt of Brockport, Susan (Alan) Miller of Barre, Jacqueline Poplin of Fairfax, VA, Cherie (Jason) Zicari of Albion, as well as 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all who loved her dearly and will cherish her memory.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Beth’s Memorial Service Saturday January 24, beginning at 1:00PM in the Barre Center Presbyterian Church, 4706 Oak Orchard Road, Albion, NY, 14411. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Transit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barre Center Presbyterian Church.
