The family of Frieda May Sabo is mourning the loss of a truly special woman who passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 93. Frieda was born on March 23, 1932, in the house above the falls in Clarendon, New York. A woman of unwavering kindness and warmth, Frieda was truly never one to say an unkind word about anyone. She was a gentle soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and her compassionate spirit touched all who knew her.
Frieda's early life as the fourth of thirteen children to the late Cecil and Jessie (Davis) Moore shaped her into the resourceful and family-oriented person she became. She created a warm and welcoming home for her five children, and her favorite moments were spent surrounded by her loved ones at family gatherings. Her skills extended to the garden, where she cultivated beautiful blooms, and to the kitchen, where she prepared countless meals with love. She also had a knack for finding treasures at yard sales and enjoyed the excitement of the casino floor.
After retiring from her work at Fisher Price in Medina and earlier roles at Dynacolor and GE in Brockport, Frieda had more time to dedicate to her beloved hobbies.
She is reunited in death with her husband, Albert Sabo (2006), and her brothers, Cecil Moore Jr. (2018), Ronald Moore (2013), Clifford "Kip" Moore (2012), David Moore (2022), and Gary Moore (1947), as well as her sisters, Colleen Sauro (2021), Zola Smith (2021), and Vera Kingdollar (2022).
Her legacy will be carried on by her three daughters, Deborah (Tom) Beach, Doreen Ward, and Della Rusin, all of Medina; her two sons, Wesley (Carmen) Sabo of Clarendon and Scot Sabo (Kim Stewart) of Medina; her brother, Robert Moore of Albion; and her sisters, Betty Fulks of Florida, Bernice Smith of Kendall, and Sandra Kozlowski of Albion; her eight grandchildren: Teresa (Dan) Fletcher, Amanda (Scott) Bieliski, James Glass, Karen Rusin (Mark Pickett), Paul Rusin Jr., Lee Sabo (Marissa Scott), Tyler (Erin) Sabo and Tyler Coyle and her seven great-grandchildren: Elsa Bieliski, James Bieliski, Annabel Bieliski, Rylan Glass, Cora Pickett, Leland Holmes , and Cameron Sabo and a dear friend Carollee Arnett.
Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of kindness and the enduring bond of family.
A private graveside ceremony for the family will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Clarendon, New York.
Friends and family are invited to a reception on Friday, November 7, at 5 p.m. at the Clarendon Historical Society, located at 16426 Fourth Section Road (Route 31A) in Clarendon.
