Gerald W. "Jay" Reed Sr.

(Albion) Gerald W. "Jay" Reed, Sr, age 73, passed away October 24, 2026 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his son Jay Jr by his side. He was born January 19, 1953 in Albion, a son of the late Charles and Shirley (Beadle) Reed and had lived in this area most of his life.

Jay served in the US Marines. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a fork lift operator. He was a biker and enjoyed his Honda motorcycle and loved taking his service dog Medusa for walks.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Terry Standish and brother Charles "Butch" Reed.

Jay is survived by his son whom he loved dearly and was proud of, Gerald "Jay" (Ronald James Lamont Jr.) Reed Jr.; mother of his son Diana Paone and her mother Garnet Mitchell; step-son Jeremiah Mitchell as well as nieces and nephews.

There are no prior services. Memorials may be made to Infectious Disease Department at Strong Memorial Hospital, C/O David Clinton, P.O. Box 689, 601 Elmwood Ave. Rochester NY 14642. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Albion.
