James J. Hollinger

(Albion) James J. "Jim" Hollinger, age 67, passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2026. He was born November 23, 1958, in Albion, a son of the late Kenneth and Charlene (Restivo) Hollinger and had lived in this area all of his life.

Jim graduated from Albion High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps., and after, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a drill sergeant. He was a member of Orleans Vets Club in Albion where he bartended and the Albion American Legion Sheret Post #35, serving on both boards. Most recently, Jim joined the Navy Club in Brockport. Jim was also a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Albion Council #1330.  He enjoyed shooting pool and military history, especially cowboys and Indians..

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his longtime companion Cora "Cookie" Persons.

Jim is survived by his sons Jacob Hollinger and Jared Hollinger, who is a PHD Student at Ohio State as well as many friends.

Jim's Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 18th at 11:00am at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Ave. Albion. His Graveside Service with full Military Honors will follow at Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Orleans Vets Club, 38 N. Platt St., Albion NY 14411 or American Legion Sheret Post #35, 3431 Gaines Basin Rd. Albion NY 14411.
