James E. VanWagner Sr., age 82, died October 1, 2023 in the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence following a long illness.
He was born May 7, 1941 in PA to Harry and Hazel (Connelly) VanWagner and had lived in this area most of his life. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Lockport American Legion and the Sutherland Lodge F&AM. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and taking trips to the casino. Mr. VanWagner was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Denise, his children: Shannon (Carl) Nordvik of Lewiston, Dayna Wiepert of FL, James (Becky) VanWagner Jr. of Newfane, Krista (Mark) Roberts of Lewiston, Erica (Frank ) Colucci of Kendall, Angela Mann of Kendall, his sister: Linda (Keith) Torgenson of ND, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and his beloved dog “Bella”.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. Private interment will held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Orleans, 14080 Rt. 31 West, Albion, NY, 14411. Jim’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home of Albion.
