John C. "Charlie" Welch Sr., age 92, died June 23, 2026 in Evergreen Place in Brockport following a long illness.
He was born November 24, 1933 in Holley, a son of the late Stuart and Elizabeth (Hampshire) Welch and was a life-long resident of this area.
Charlie was Veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having served in both the Army and the Navy. He was a member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church and Former Sandy Creek Cemetery Association. He retired from the NYSDOT Canal System as a Floating Plant Supervisor.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Joanne, his brother Russell Welch, and his sisters: Virginia Bueckman and Ann Curry.
Charlie is survived by his sons: John "Jack" (Karen) Welch of Holley, Mark Welch of Amherst, his daughter: Elizabeth "Beth" Schmidt of Albion, his grandchildren: Matthew (Brittany) Welch, Hayley (Joe) Schmidt, Nicole (Sapphire) Welch, Joshua (Katie) Welch and his great-grandchildren: Carter, Hudson, Olivia and Willow and his faithful fur-baby "Delilah".
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Charlie's Memorial Service on SATURDAY July 11th at 3pm in the Gaines Carlton Community Church, 14585 Ridge Road West, Albion, NY, 14411. Private interment at the convenience of the family will be in Sandy Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association of WNY-Team Joanne Orleans County Walk, 6400 Sheridan Drive, Suite 320, Amherst, NY, 14221 or online: Alzheimer's Association /orleansteamjoanne. Charlie's arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home of Holley.
