(Albion) Joyce L. O’Connor age 92, passed away January 4, 2026 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 14, 1933, in Bergen, a daughter of the late Raymond and Luella (Miller) Peachey.
Joyce graduated from Bergen High School in 1951. She was a 50-year member of the Sheret Post #35 Albion American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she held all offices. Also, she was a member of the Orleans County Ladies Auxiliary and the Albion VFW Post #4635 Ladies Auxiliary. Joyce cooked for many places, including Lu-Ray in Bergen, the Village Inn, Farone’s Steakhouse, the Holiday House and the Orleans Hotel.
She worked at Beemus Bag Co., Bird’s Eye Laboratory, the unemployment office for the Department of Labor and then went to work at the Albion Correctional Facility, first as a cook and then a corrections officer. Joyce enjoyed traveling, baking; making pies for all the dinners the American Legion held. Most importantly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her 3 husbands, John Kurzawski, Frank Mack Sr, James O’Connor, Sr; brothers Kenneth and Russell Peachey; daughter Connie (Jack) Whipple; grandsons Michael Boyce, Peter (Connie) Boyce; great-grandsons Alex and Bradley Boyce; son Michael Mack.
She is survived by her daughters Elaine (Ray) Stefani, Donna (the late James) Boyce; sons Frank (Nancy) Mack, Michael (Barbie Ann) O’Connor, James (Mary Anderson) O’Connor, Tim O’Connor; grandchildren Stephen (Michael) Whipple King, Jackie (Joe) Coli, Tammy (James) Clark, Tina (James) Montreal, Jennifer (Csaba) Balasi, Melissa (Joe) Kubis, Tonya (Al) Rich, Shawn (Melissa) O’Connor, Kyle (Lisa) O’Connor, Lisa Reeb, Emily Toal, Aaron (Julia) O’Connor, Jordan (Hannah) O’Connor, Brennan (Samantha) O’Connor, Keighlin (Cory) Forman; great-grandchildren Emily and Calli Leffler, Christina Montreal, Jacob (Adella) Clark, Nathan Clark, Catherine Montreal, Zachery Montreal, Eva Maria, Gina Rose and Nicoli Jay Balasi, Patrick (Julie) Derisley, Andrew Derisley, Rowan and Kellan O’Connor, Carter and Piper O’Connor, Finley, Maeve, Shea, Miles, Ivor, Jameson and Lois O’Connor; great-great-grandchildren Benjamin Wright, Zachery Jr., Oliver and Elsie as well as several nieces and nephews.
There are no prior calling hours or services. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Albion.
