(ALBION)

Marguerite Rose "Peggy" Theodorakos, died on Monday, May 18th, 2026 in Highland Hospital following a determined fight with cancer. Born on Wednesday, December 17th, 1952, in Batavia, New York, she resided in Albion, NY, where she touched the lives of many with her unwavering compassion and spirit.

Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, surviving through her devoted husband of 46 years, Jimmy, and their cherished children: Jennifer (Tim) Rice of Lockport, Kristine (Anthony) Ross of Marcy, and Nicholas (Charlene Narburgh) Theodorakos of Kendall. She is also survived by her brother Barry (Kathy) Sheldon of Maryland, her sister Suzanne (Christopher) Bourke of Waterport, as well as her grandchildren: Haley (Adam), Brandon (Hannah), Abigail (Tyler), LJ, and Cameron. Peggy was particularly proud of her great-granddaughter, Rosalie, who carries on her namesake.

Peggy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bernard and Elizabeth (Wendell) Sheldon, and her brother, Robert Sheldon.

A committed member of Christ Episcopal Church, Peggy enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a founding member of the Albion Coalition and the Neighborhood Watch Program, and a valued member of the Women's Service Club of Albion. Her passions included collecting antiques, nurturing her gardens, and sharing her love for animals, with a particular fondness for birdwatching. And as many recall, she was a strong voice fighting the expansion of the landfill as part of Stop Polluting Orleans County (SPOC).

Peggy loved with her whole heart and stood firmly by those she cared about. She was loyal, vibrant, funny, and full of life...never one to hold back her opinions and always ready to tell you exactly what she thought. Beneath that strong exterior was a deeply generous and kind soul who would give anything to those she loved. Traditional in her values and relentless in her drive, she was as tenacious as she was unforgettable.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue-Albion, on Wednesday, May 27th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 28th, at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 26 S. Main St., Albion. Interment will follow in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
