Maurice Taylor Sr, 58, of Albion, NY, passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Maurice was born in Rochester, NY, to Morris Taylor Sr. and the late Helen Taylor. He attended Albion High School, graduating in 1985. While there, he met and later married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Ester Goddard-Taylor on August 3rd , 1996, whom he loved to call Christina.
In 1989, Maurice decided to go into NYS Department of Corrections after starting a family. He would go on to work there for 26 years. While fulfilling his career, he realized he had a passion for educating colleagues on diversity, which led him to take the position of the cultural diversity trainer. He would touch many lives and give people a different perspective on life that would make them see things in a more positive light. One of Maurice's most prideful achievements in his career was being able to show his daughter, LaBaron, the ropes as a correctional officer. After retiring, Maurice worked various part-time jobs in which he met a lot of good people along the way, with his most recent job being the ARC Glow, which he loved.
Maurice had a passion for life. He was known for his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and, of course, his personality. Maurice had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that he loved to spread to others.
He was jack of all trades and always wanted to learn something new. Henceforth, he started his own podcast and went on to start different business adventures with his most current one being, The Family T-shirt Business: TaylorMade. Maurice had a love for golf and could also be found traveling to various golf courses with his golf buddies.
Maurice was a devoted family man, who had a profound amount of love for his family and friends. He cherished spending time with loved ones around his fire pit continuously letting us all know who was in charge of putting the logs in the pit (him). He loved attending family functions and was the life of the party no matter where he went. Maurice loved ending his nights with his wife, children, and grandchildren participating in numerous activities. No matter what it was, he just loved spending time with them.
Maurice is predeceased by his mother, Helen Taylor.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Ester Goddard-Taylor; children, Porsche Taylor, LaBaron Taylor, Camri Taylor, and Maurice Taylor Jr.; grandchildren Semaj Miller, Sarea Miller, Macaria Parker, Mahiya Parker, and James B.
