Melinda S. Salmeri, age 77, died in Mercy Hospital on October 1, 2026. She was born October 8, 1948 in Lockport, a daughter of Edward and Genevieve White and was a life-long resident of this area.
Melinda enjoyed knitting, on-line gaming, and raising many varieties of birds. She also had a special affinity for cats. Ms. Salmeri was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by her Lifetime Companion Joseph Lajoie, two sons: Brendan Ryan of Lockport, Sean Ryan of AZ, her brothers: John, Gavin and T.C. White all of AZ, Quinton White of AZ, a sister: Jacquie St. John of Rochester, 3 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews including Mickey (Terry) Chapman of Rochester.
There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Melinda's arrangements have been entrusted to the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home of Gasport.
