Michael G. Downey

(Albion/Hamburg) Michael G. Downey age 61, passed away March 16, 2026 at Erie County Medical Center following a long illness. He was born October 1, 1964, in Albion, a son of Everett "Frenchy" and the late Dorothy (Hildreth) Downey.

Michael served in the US Air Force. He was a member of the Hamburg American Legion Post #527 and was a member and past governor of the Hamburg Moose Lodge #992.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his mothers-in-law Ethel Alvut and Cathy Dewey Alvut.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tina; father Frenchy; sister Cindy (Michael) Troy; brother Bill (Anne) Downey; sisters-in-law Mary Dewey, Penny (Sean) Kavanagh, Dawn Dewey, Charlene (Michael) Schicker, Mariah (Dennis) Boyko as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Ave. Albion on Tuesday March 24th 4:00pm-6:00pm. Memorials may be made to P.A.W.S., 3371 Gaines Basin Rd. Albion NY 14411.
