Michael Allen Horn, 67, of Albion, New York, died suddenly at his residence on September 1, 2026.
Mike was born on November 23, 1958, and graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1977. Soon after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country. Mike served honorably during the Cold War years in the United States Navy from 1977 through 1981, as an FA-9760, Electrical Mechanical Equipment Repairman aboard an aircraft carrier. His military service was an important part of his life, and that service will be honored at his final resting place at Western New York National Veterans Cemetery located in Pembroke, NY, this Thursday, 09-10-2026, at 1 pm.
Mike worked at Circle R Farms and was a man who believed in the value of an honest day's work. He loved the outdoors and treasured the time he spent with the people he loved and cared about. Fishing, hunting, and woodworking were among his favorite pastimes.
Mike could also often be found participating in fishing and hunting events with his fellow Veterans through organizations such as “Operation Injured Soldiers” and the “Warrior House of Western New York.” He proudly stood beside these organizations and was devoted to serving his fellow Veterans and supporting their families, especially at Christmas time when Warrior House of WNY would deliver meals and presents to well-deserving veterans making the transition back to civilian life after a life altering injury.
At the center of Mike's life was Cindy Boryszewski, his lifelong partner of 32 years. Cindy shared the ordinary days, the important moments, and the life they built together throughout those years. She was not simply part of Mike's story. She was his devoted companion and the person who faithfully stood beside him throughout Mike’s life.
Mike's sudden passing leaves an absence in Cindy's heart that words cannot fully measure or accurately describe this loss. However, the love that they shared, the life they built together, and the memories they created together will forever be and remain the most important part of Mike's and Cindy’s legacy together.
Mike and his best friend, Jeff Long, is also an important and significant part of Mike’s life. Mike and Jeff could often be found fishing together, attending veterans and different social gatherings, or just spending time with their circle of friends talking about the good old days. Their friendship was strengthened by their shared experiences as Veterans who served this great nation faithfully. They had many great conversations, and countless days spent fishing the day away together were an important part of that relationship between great friends.
Mike is survived by his lifelong partner, Cindy Boryszewski; his sons, Dylan Horn of Albion and Dustin Horn of Albion; his brother, Donald G. Horn of Medina; his grandsons, Vincent Brady, David Horn, and Lynn Horn; his sister, Donna Horn of Batavia; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Jeff Long; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Donald R. Horn of Medina, New York; his mother, Norma Rumpf Horn of Medina; his brother, Dennis Horn of Florida; and his beloved daughter, Olivia Horn.
SERVICE AND BURIAL
Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue, Albion, New York.
Then the funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. and proceed to Western New York National Veterans Cemetery, at 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, New York, where Mike will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m.
A gathering in Mike's honor will follow at the VFW in Medina, New York, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike's memory to the American Diabetes Association. Donations made through this campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to the campaign's limit, helping each gift make an even greater difference in supporting diabetes research, programs, and the continuing pursuit of future treatments and cures.
