Medina

Michael A. Zambito passed away August 4, 2026. He was born January 29, 1952, in Albion, a son of the late Alphonse and Virginia Zambito. As a young boy, Michael loved fishing, camping, snowmobiling, anything outdoors. Eventually he was also an avid hunter and garnered the nickname "Hawkeye".

He worked for years under his father's wing at the family owned and run business, Zambito Produce Company, Inc. He became a well known and exceptional produce salesman broker, working with numerous farmers, buyers and trucking outfits to get the sale made and followed thru on. He could sell anything; he just needed to be persistent and find the right person. He did this for approximately twenty plus years and continued on for many years after the business closed. He met and knew people far and wide due to his chosen field and phone skills, and also from his years hunting and fishing. Mike did some traveling with family and friends and especially enjoyed music and a good concert, old cars, casinos, a good poker game and the horses throughout and later in life. He would be sure to let you know he was at the original "Woodstock"! He was liked by many, even though he could be very gruff, but could also be a jokester, fun spirited and had a caring heart. This could be attested to his love for furry friends, especially dogs and kitties. In his last few years, he spent a small fortune caring for stray cats, sheltering them from the elements and feeding them. He fell in love with one, naming it Kiki; caring for and loving it like it was his child. We believe Kiki reminded Mike of his Younger self. To sum up Michael, taking a verse from a well known song, Michael was a "broker, a joker and a midnight "toker"!

In addition to his parents Al and Ginny, he was predeceased by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He will be dearly missed by his sisters Yvonne (Steve Hastings), Kimmy; niece and great-nephew Tonya and Gabe; special friends, Patricia Rinker & Mike Gaddis, as well as numerous close friends.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Albion, Monday August 24th 12:00pm-1:00pm where his Memorial Service will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
