Schilling, Raymond Edward "Ray" age 85, of Lockport, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, with loving family comforting him after a prolonged illness. He was born on March 25,1940 in Buffalo NY, grew up in Kenmore and graduated from Kenmore Senior High School in 1956. He loved swimming and was a member of the high school swim team as well as participating in the Boy Scouts of America.
Ray entered military service with the US Marine Corps in 1958 and served for 4 years. He entered the New York State Police in June 1964. He retired in December of 1997 having obtained the rank of Zone Sergeant. His last duty station was Zone One Headquarters at SP Niagara. With his 4 years of military service in the US Marines, 33 years with the New York State Police and 13 years as Lockport Town Justice, Ray served his country, state and local community for over 50 years.
Ray was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockport and humbly served as a Lector as well as contributing his time and effort to the St. Vincent dePaul food pantry. He also was very active with the AFS Intercultural Programs, a global student exchange organization, serving as treasurer.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn (nee Rapp) Schilling and his son Raymond E. Jr..
He is survived by his wife Suzanne {nee Stillman}, his sisters Barbara {Richard} Wurl (nee Schilling) and Sandra Price (nee Schilling), his children; Stephen P. Schilling, John P. {Renee} Scupien, Patty {David} Kloostra (nee Scupien), grandchildren; Cassidy (Gabor) Mechtler (nee Schilling), Noah Schilling, Mackenzie and Gabrielle Scupien, Riley, Emily and Aubree Kloostra and great granddaughter Nadia Mechtler, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be directed to the food pantry at - St. Vincent dePaul, 61 Walnut St., Lockport, NY 14094.
Ray’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY.
