Richard C. "Dick" Knaak

(Albion) Richard C. "Dick" Knaak, age 82, passed away May 18, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He was born June 2, 1943, in Rochester, a son of the late Carl and Erma (White) Knaak and had lived in this area for most of his life.

Dick served in the US Army from 1962-1965. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and watching his four boys and grandchildren play sports. He also loved camping with his family, especially the annual family vacation to Golden Lake, where they visited every summer for 45 years. In his younger years, Dick was an avid softball player and bowler; he was even on Bowling for Dollars. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Dick is survived by his wife Joyce; married 63 years but together for 68 years; his sons Randy (Paula) Knaak, Eric Knaak, Keith (Stephanie) Knaak, Garrett (Mary) Knaak; grandchildren Scott (Jen) Knaak, Jennifer (Edward) Mattle, Kendall and Griffin Knaak, Mitchell and Alyson Knaak, Emilie (Mark) Pittman, Erika (Chris) Reed, Ella and Maya Knaak; great-grandchildren Nora and Rhett Knaak; sister Lucille Orlop as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Ave. Albion on Thursday, May 21st from 4:00pm-7:00pm where his Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00am. Burial with Military Honors will be at Mt. Albion Cemetery.
