Robert E. Blackburn

Robert E. Blackburn, age 91, of Waterport, passed away at Orchard Manor Nursing Home on September 29, 2026. Born October 29, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Robert and Joanne (Gorey) Blackburn.

He worked for many years as an Industrial Engineer for Bristol Meyers in St. Louis. He was a master gardener, and longtime active member of Holy Family Parish in Albion, where he also volunteered at many church events. He was a friend of Bill W. for 40 years. In his retirement years, he kept busy with his garden, sailing, playing violin and walking his beloved dog Zoe.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Reynolds Blackburn, Carole Blackburn, Mary Jo Scheppner and brother-in-law Charles Scheppner.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Blackburn; children, Robert (Jade Chiu) Blackburn, Andrew Blackburn, Elizabeth (Dean) Collins, Matthew (Sandy) Blackburn, grandchildren; Faith Arcidino, Anna (Connor Corneil) Blackburn, Amanda (John) Torsell, Emily Arcidino, Erica Blackburn, Vincent Arcidino and Logan Blackburn. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 W. Ave., Albion. His funeral mass will be held the following day, Saturday, October 17 at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church, 106 S. Main St., Albion, with interment immediately following in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
