Ronald B. Truax

Lockport businessman, Ronald B. Truax, passed away on July 12, 2025. Born on May 20,1934 in Royalton, NY, Ron was the husband of Margaret (Federspiel) and son of the late Bernard E. and Sylvia (Schendel) Truax.


Ron was a proud business owner for 60 years. After serving our country in the U.S. Army, Ron returned to Lockport to finish his education and joined his father-in-law, Monroe Federspiel and formed Federspiel & Truax Insurance Agency. Throughout his professional career, Ron was very active in the community. He participated in a number of service clubs (most notably, The Lockport Lions Club) and was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church and treasurer for 25 years. In all of his community work, Ron regularly served in leadership positions and received countless awards for distinguished service.


Ron was an exceptional athlete and avid sports fan. While at Lockport Senior High and the University of Buffalo, Ron was a standout track athlete. After his time in the service, he continued his athletic pursuits, becoming a fixture on the YMCA racquetball courts and tennis courts all around Lockport.


He was a wonderful and devoted husband to Margaret and father to Sara (Rik) Marleau, Kyle (Caroline) Truax and Selena (Chuck) Morello. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Krysta, Jake (Lindsay), Anna, Grace, Angelo and Bode; great grandson, Alex and sisters, Barbara Yates and Audrey Truax. He was predeceased by his sister, June Burngasser.


Ron will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, humor, pride in everything he did and love for his family.


Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 24th from 4-7 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. A Memorials Service will be held on Friday, July 25 at 11 AM at First English Lutheran Church, 185 Locust St., Lockport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lockport Lions Club or the Niagara History Center. Condolences may be offered to the family at Langefuneralhomeinc.com.
