It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” Lou Sacco. She passed away peacefully at Rochester General Hospital, on February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1938 in Clarendon, to the late Zola and Fredrick Robertson.
Sandy was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother “Nani,” and her family was her world. She was a 1956 graduate of Holley Central School. Sandra met the love of her life, Joseph Sacco, on a bus ride to Rochester in 1957. They went out to lunch, beginning a love story that would last a lifetime. Joe and Sandy were married on May 17, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holley and would go on to raise four children, Jody Lynn, Theresa, Joe and John.
Sandy had a few jobs throughout her early adult life, working at Grants Department Store, Albion Middle School as an office secretary and Ames Department Store as the jewelry associate. However, her most favorite job was being a stay at home mom, taking care of her children, husband and home.
Having raised Jody Lynn, their daughter with Down Syndrome, she inspired Sandy and Joe to co-found Camp Rainbow, a camp devoted to celebrating and supporting children with special needs.
Sandy had a love for the Syracuse Orangemen football and basketball teams. She enjoyed rooting for them and watching their games on television. She loved camping and their yearly stay on Ft. Meyers Beach in their motorhome. Sandy was the maker of all great sandwiches, Pizzelle’s, her famous zucchini bread and chocolate and banana cream pies.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joyce, brothers Fred and Liston, daughter Jody Lynn and most recently, her husband of 67 years, Joe.
Above all, her greatest joy was her family and being a Nani! Watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, was her true happiness! Sandy and Joe could always be found in the front row as proud, dedicated parents and grandparents.
Left to survive her legacy are her beloved children Theresa (Tom) O’Hearn, Joe (Chantelle) Sacco, John Sacco, grandchildren, Heather (Jared) Hapeman, Patrick (Kristy) O’Hearn, Briana (Matt) Hurtgam, Gino (Mackenzie Cowan) Sacco, Nicholas (Kenzie Muck) Sacco, Christopher (Aly Snow) Sacco, her precious great-grandchildren Coraline, Cameron, Graham, Charlotte, Evelyn, and Matthew as well as special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandy’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 West Ave. Albion, NY 14411 on Friday, February 6th from 11:00am-1:00pm. Her service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC GLOW or the Sacco Family Music Scholarship C/O Albion High School Alumni Foundation, Inc. PO Box 345 Albion, NY 14411 in memory of Sandy.
