Valerie J. Klafehn

Carlton, NY - It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Valerie J. Klafehn, July 23, 2026.

Born December 30, 1952, in Rochester NY, Valerie was the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy Wilmot, and the widow of Steven Klafehn.

Valerie retired from many years of teaching special education in school districts in Denver, CO., South and North Carolina, and Hilton, NY.

Valerie graduated from Hilton High School, Buffalo State University, and Colorado State University.

She is survived by sons, Aaron (Son in Laws John, Marshall) and Garret Klafehn, sisters, Tracy Wilmot Panczyszyn (Brother in Law Frank), and Diane Petricone, brothers Glen and Don Wilmot (Sister in Law Penny), many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Marshall McCall for being her wonderful caregiver, allowing her to spend her last years home with family.

Knitting and crocheting needle work was a near lifelong passion.

She will be deeply missed, but family and friends will be continually feeling her presence wrapped in one of her knitting projects.

There will be no memorial service, but the family will celebrate her life at a time to be determined.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
