(Albion) Waldo H. "Ace" Caldwell, Jr. age 93 passed away April 16, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1932 in Albion, a son of the late Waldo, Sr. and Jeanette (Down) Caldwell and had lived in this area all of his life.
Ace was a carpenter, starting from the early age of 12 where he built his first bathroom. He went on to build his own home on Phipps Rd. and even helped to build the Tillman's Village Inn Restaurant. You could always find him at Gotta Dance Studio building and fixing everything and anything. Ace was president of the Experimental Aircraft Association, (EAA) for over 40 years and had his private pilots license for over 50 years. He was a member of Pine Hill Airport where he volunteered for all of their pancake breakfast's and being a division 1 egg flipper. Ace was a Life Member of the Albion Fire Department, he was a connoisseur of wine making, he loved his Saturday morning cartoons, his garden, mowing his lawn and tinkering on almost anything. He was known for being "swell" and doing a little soft shoe. He enjoyed his Thursday evening dinners at the Orleans Koinonia Kitchen and his Nutri-Fair lunches because he loved the socialization with the helpers and members. Most importantly, Ace loved spending time with his family, especially the holidays where he deep fried a turkey every year with a danhattan.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Sandra and his sister Barbara (Wells) Caldwell Harling.
He is survived by his children Wendy Baker Pettit, Lori Baker Sheffer, Ronald Grant (Becky Turner) Baker, Jr, Amy (David) Caldwell Sidari; grandchildren Sonya (Nick Johnson) Gaines, Evan (Lianna) Sheffer, Ronald Grant (Theresa) Baker III, Kurtis Baker, Emily Baker, Maxwell Baker, Jillian (Jeff) Cookinham, Kristin (Shane) Embrey, Keith (Gracen) Sidari, Kyle Sidari, Gina Sidari; great-grandchidren Shelby Baker, Bobby Baker, Jackson Gaines, Charlotte Embrey, James and Jonah Cookinham, Audrey and Blake Sheffer as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Ave. Albion Wednesday April 22nd 4:00pm-7:00pm where a brief service will follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be Thursday at 10:00am at Transit Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Koinonia Kitchen; PO Box 571, Albion, NY 14411 or to the Albion Fire Department, 108 North Platt St., Albion NY 14411.
