William M. Reed

William M. Reed, age 82, passed away April 8, 2026. He was born October 19, 1943 in Batavia, New York a son of the late Myron and Margaret (Marshall) Reed. He was raised on a farm in Albion and attended Albion Central School, graduating in 1961. He then attended Union College in Schenectady, NY, graduating with a B.S. Degree in 1965 with a major in science, a minor in chemistry. William then enlisted in the Army in 1965, finishing his military commitment in the Army Reserves in 1971 as a Company Clerk.

William then went to work for Eastman Kodak Company in 1967 as an analyst in Photographic Technology Division's Chemical Section. After six months, he joined the Chemical Certification Group which was responsible for the coordination of Chemical Certification Group which was responsible for coordination of Chemical and Photographic analyses of chemicals from TEC, Syn Chem, Photochemical and outside vendors to be used in Kodak packaged chemicals and processes. In 1970, he became head of the group, coordinating the analytic and photographic evaluations and reporting the results.

in 1972, William transferred to the EKTACHROME Products Section where he worked as a photographic engineer. Following successful market launce of the EKTACHROME Project, he was transferred to Government Markets Services in 1974. He then served as Technical Specialist in all portions of the United States including Washington D.C. In addition, he provided training abroad in Indonesia, Pakistan, Singapore, Nova Scotia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Mexico'.

William enjoyed traveling, hunting, bird watching, fishing, skiing, gardening and photography. His greatest joy was spending time with his family doing fun activities.

He is survived by his sisters Carrie (Mick) Torrington and Bernice (Steve) Martin along with niece Sandra McKenna (Gary), great-nieces Rachel Kenney and Emily (Matthew) Banks along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of William's life will be private.
